Victory Dance Foods is a proud Member of 1% for the Planet, Reforestation Partner with One Tree Planted and Compost Partner with Urban Canopy.

In 2020 we became a member of 1% for the Planet and took a pledge to donate 1% of our sales to approved and certified non-profit partners who are making a difference in the environment. Through our membership we learned about One Tree Planted, a Vermont based non-profit fighting climate change globally through reforestation. After learning more about the impact they were making across the globe and how vital trees and forest are to the environment, we immediately decided to partner.

One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted is an environmental non-profit based in Vermont dedicated to making simple for anyone to help the environment. They work with amazing reforestation partners around the world to help plant trees where they are needed most. Every dollar donated, plants one tree and complete project transparency allows individuals and businesses and foundations to understand the impact of their donation. Results so far? In 2022, One Tree Planted 52 million trees across six regions of the world and restored 241,592 acres of natural habitat and since they were founded in 2014 have planted more than 92 million trees.

Why are Trees Important to the Environment?

Planting trees is a simple and effective way to make a positive impact on the planet. Trees clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink and provide habitat to over 80% of the worlds terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere and are key ingredients in 25% of medicines. And They make us feel good too. That’s why we’re proud to be partnering with One Tree Planted.

We donated 1% of our Revenue to Reforestation projects in Chippewa National Forest.

2022 Giving- Chippewa National Forest in Minnesota

In 2022, we focused our giving efforts on Reforestation projects in Appalachia, donating 1% of top line revenue to our partner One Tree Planted. We are delighted to share that thanks to our support and other donors, a total of 750,000 trees were planted to restore 329 hectares of land in Chippewa National Forest in Minnesota.

Trees were planted to improve climate change resilience, restore and protect critical bald eagle nesting site, benefit indigenous communities and more.

Site Facts we Love:

  • The Chippewa National Forest supports one of the highest breeding densities of American bald eagles in the United States.

  • Located in the heart of Northern Minnesota, the Chippewa National Forest is home to more lakes and wetlands than any other National Forest.

2021 Giving

We donated 1% of our 2021 Revenue to Reforestation projects in Northern California.

2021 Giving - Wildfire Restoration in Northern California

2020's devastating fire season consumed close to 3 million acres, resulting in hundreds of millions of trees that must be restored.  Thanks to your support, together with other donors, we helped plant 70,000 native tree species to 114 hectares of land, across various locations in Northern California, as part of One Tree Planted’s California Sweathouse Reforestation Project.

Site Facts We Love:

  • Water gives the forest of Northern California their identity. Some areas average up to 200 inches of rain annually and the northern forest’s 1500 miles of permanent streams supply about nine percent of California’s total runoff.

  • As the trees we helped plant grow, they will increase forest coverage with a survival rate of 90% anticipated based on previous plantings by One Tree Planted in surrounding areas.

Site Facts We Love:

  • The areas reforested in this project were reclaimed after the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA)

  • As the trees planted grow they will help supplement biodiversity and bringing ecosystem.

Compost Program

CoMPosting

In August 2020, we started our composting program and became a zero food waste organization. Since that time we’ve diverted over 11,000 lbs of food waste (mostly inedible organic fruit rinds) from landfills back into the earth in the form of healthy soil in our local chicago community gardens and farms through our composting partners. We update our compost tracker throughout the calendar year to keep track of our efforts.
