Our Commitment to Sustainability:
Reforestation, Composting & Giving Back
Eat Granola. Plant Trees. Compost Waste. Do a Victory Dance.
Since day one, our mission has been about more than just making great granola — it’s about doing right by people and the planet. In 2020, we proudly joined 1% for the Planet , pledging to donate 1% of our annual sales — every year we’re in business — to certified nonprofit partners creating real environmental impact.
That same year, we partnered with One Tree Planted to support global reforestation efforts and launched our composting program to reduce food waste right here at home.
Since then, we’ve helped plant trees across North America and diverted over 19,000 pounds of organic food waste from landfills — the equivalent of more than 14,000 pounds of carbon emissions avoided.
It’s all part of our commitment to building a healthier, more sustainable food system — one bag of Garden Granola®, Granuesli®, or Muesli at a time.
About One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a nonprofit organization dedicated to global reforestation. Their mission is simple: one dollar = one tree planted. They partner with local communities, governments, and environmental organizations to plant trees where they’re needed most — and their transparent model ensures that donors can see the direct impact of their contributions.
Since 2014, One Tree Planted has planted more than 135.5 million trees across 82 countries, restoring over 118,500 hectares (292,864 acres) of forest. Their projects support biodiversity, climate resilience, and local communities — including 106 urban greening initiatives that address environmental justice and tree equity.
By choosing Victory Dance Foods, you're helping support global reforestation and sustainable food systems — all through something as simple as your breakfast.
Why Are Trees Important?
Planting trees is one of the most effective ways to protect our planet. Trees:
Clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink
Provide habitat for over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity
Support the livelihoods of 1.6 billion people
Absorb carbon dioxide and combat climate change
Play a role in 25% of the medicines we use
And yes — they just make us feel good
That’s why we’re honored to partner with One Tree Planted and do our part in growing a greener future.

2024 Impact Summary Coming Soon

2023 Impact — Wildfire Reforestation in California
In 2023, we dedicated our giving efforts to reforestation projects in California, donating 1% of our top-line revenue to our partner, One Tree Planted. While the planting projects are still underway, we look forward to sharing the full impact of our contributions once the final numbers are available.
2022 Impact — Chippewa National Forest, Minnesota
Victory Dance Foods helped plant 750,000 trees through One Tree Planted’s 2022 Chippewa National Forest project.
In 2022, we focused our giving efforts on reforestation in Appalachia, donating 1% of our top-line revenue to One Tree Planted. With the support of donors like us, a total of 750,000 trees were planted to restore 329 hectares in Chippewa National Forest.
These trees were planted to:
Improve climate resilience
Restore and protect critical bald eagle nesting sites
Support Indigenous communities and biodiversity
Site facts we love:
Chippewa National Forest has one of the highest breeding densities of American bald eagles in the U.S.
Located in northern Minnesota, it contains more lakes and wetlands than any other national forest.
2021 Impact — Wildfire Restoration in Northern California
In response to the devastating 2020 fire season, which burned nearly 3 million acres, our 2021 giving supported reforestation across Northern California through One Tree Planted’s Sweathouse Reforestation Project. Together with other donors, we helped plant 70,000 native tree species across 114 hectares of land in fire-affected areas.
Site Facts We Love:
Northern California forests receive up to 200 inches of rain annually, and contain over 1,500 miles of permanent streams, which supply around 9% of California’s total runoff.
As the trees grow, they are expected to reach a 90% survival rate, based on prior success rates from nearby reforestation efforts.
2020 Impact — Appalachia (Warren County, Pennsylvania)
2020 marked the beginning of our partnership with One Tree Planted and our first year as a 1% for the Planet member. That year, we supported reforestation efforts in Appalachia — specifically the Legacy Minesview Project in Warren County, Pennsylvania.
With the help of our contribution and others, over 344,167 trees were planted to restore 333 hectares of land impacted by past mining activity.
Site Facts We Love:
The reforested areas were previously impacted by surface mining and are now being restored following the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA).
As the trees mature, they will help bring back biodiversity, rebuild ecosystems, and transform once-disturbed lands into thriving native forests.
Our Composting Program
Since August 2020, we’ve worked to reduce waste by composting food scraps from our production kitchen — and tracking our impact along the way.
To date, we’ve diverted 19,698 pounds of organic food waste from landfills — the equivalent of 14,182.56 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions avoided.
We’re proud to partner with Urban Canopy in Chicago to make this possible. Together, we’re closing the loop and building a more regenerative food system from the ground up.
Growing a Greener Future, Together
Whether it’s planting trees, reducing waste, or crafting granola with integrity, we believe sustainability should be joyful, actionable, and shared. Every time you choose Victory Dance Foods, you’re helping support meaningful environmental progress — and that’s always worth celebrating.
