The Magic of Banana Brûlée
There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a banana transform under the flame of a kitchen torch. The natural sugars caramelize instantly, creating that signature golden crust we love in crème brûlée – but reimagined for any time of day. It’s culinary theater at its finest.
Why Victory Dance Foods Kale Matcha Granola Makes This Work
This isn’t ordinary granola. The earthy complexity of matcha paired with nutrient-dense kale creates a sophisticated base that stands up to the intensity of caramelized banana. It transforms this from a simple bowl into something genuinely special – whether you’re starting your day or ending your meal.
Equipment Needed
• Kitchen torch (culinary torch)
Ingredients
• 1 cup labneh or thick Greek yogurt
• 1/2 cup Victory Dance Foods Garden Granola Kale Matcha
• 1 banana, sliced lengthwise
• 2 tablespoons tahini
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
• 2-4 teaspoons raw sugar
Method
Spoon the labneh into a shallow bowl or plate. Using the back of your spoon, spread it evenly to create a smooth, flat surface.
Sprinkle the granola and chopped hazelnuts over the labneh base.
Using a spoon drizzle tahini in a sweeping motion over the base.
Place the banana half or halves if using both on top, cut-side facing up. Evenly distribute 1-2 teaspoons of raw sugar over each banana half.
Using a kitchen torch, ignite and hold the flame 2-3 inches above the sugar-topped bananas. Keep the torch moving in gentle sweeping motions across the surface to create an even golden caramelization. Watch as the sugar bubbles and transforms into a beautiful amber crust – this should take about 30-60 seconds per banana half.
Let the caramelized topping cool and set for about a minute until it forms that satisfying crisp shell.
While the bananas are still warm, finish with a generous drizzle of honey.
